Nightswimming at the Mines of Moria

23 Jul

Finally we get to the Mines of Moria, the wife and I.

Here is Giselher, waiting for the Watcher to makes his appearance, awed by the harvest moon.  (Maybe you dwarves can throw a few more rocks, you fools.)

Regarding the actual quest, they force us to do it solo.  (Then again, aren’t legends usually born solo?  There are no legendary armies.  There are legendary warriors.  And legendary weapons.)

Nightswimming, remembering that night.
September’s coming soon.
I’m pining for the moon.
And what if there were two
Side by side in orbit
Around the fairest sun?
That bright, tight forever drum
could not describe nightswimming.

    “There are no legendary armies.”

    Spartans. Aye.

And not to forget Xenophon’s 10,000.

    Greeks vs Persians.

    We remember to this day.

Ah cool! I made it into Eregion last night for the first time. That moon stood out.

I really like the look of Eregion. I think it has a nice northern california/eastern washington state feel that I like.

We made it there and I was not quite level 45. The wife was already 45 and waiting for me to ding before we started the introduction to Moria quest. (Vol II, Book 1.) Half the things we fought there in the starting area of Eregion were red to me, but a Captain and a Guardian are a good team.

I dinged 45 and we made a bee-line for the gates and started Volume II.

Now we’ve got our first Legendary weapons and are improving on them (Chapter 10) by doing quests back in Eregion.

The game lost me there in the 20′s/30′s, but between improvements made to quest flow, and me figuring out better ways to play, it’s been very enjoyable.
