We use a modified DKP version. We earn points for being on time, being in on a boss kill, and so on, and then the amount of DKP you can earn is also capped.
I was lucky to be capped (which means there haven’t been a lot of drops for me in a while) and I was very surprised to win out over others who’d slogged it out raid after raid like I had. I just put in my request, stating “Main” when asked if anyone wanted it, and learned I had one of the highest amounts of DKP to spend. Sweet.
